MY STORY

When people ask me when I got into photography, it’s sort of a complicated question. Technically, I could say since I was a kid, I always wanted to be an artist, like my Aunt*, and I have always loved taking photos. But I didn’t realize I loved it so much until 2009, when I got more into taking photos for a website that my friend and I designed for fun. Three years later, I got in the professional photography industry, working at a photography studio. After doing photography, videography, and marketing for various businesses for about 10 years, I finally decided to go all in and chase my dreams.

Overall though, I think I do have to credit my Aunt.

*AKA my OG muse. You’ll learn a bit more about her.

I grew up watching my Aunt do what she loved since she was a kid- create art. I’ll never forget photographing her at her house doing her thing and doing what she loved, or going to her art shows and taking photos of her customers admiring her work. Almost every time I went over to her house, I’d take photos of her art, space, and her in her element. If I didn’t have my camera with me, I’d use my phone. That’s how much she inspired me. She was incredibly talented- sewing, painting, floral arranging, photography… she could do just about anything.

She was always one of my biggest supporters, encouraging me to start my own business and do what I love, just like her. She was basically my first branding photography/videography client.

After she passed away, I think I got a sign from her. I randomly came across one of her art pieces while I was on-location working for my old job, and it said, “You are ready to take flight”. I took it as “Do the damn thing… you’re ready for this”.

And I’m so glad I did.

The feelings I got from admiring and photographing her doing what she loved is what happens when I work with my clients.

I think the reason why I love brand photography so much is because I understand that passion. I’ve seen it from her and my clients, and I feel it every single day.

The mutual feeling of knowing that you’re doing what you love and you can’t see yourself doing anything else.

The thought of not being able to ever do it again kinda scares you.

The same “struggle” of having too many good ideas and not knowing where to start.

The overwhelming feelings of gratitude you get when you wake up.

Thank you to all of my clients for trusting me, and choosing me to capture your story and your legacy.

And thank you to my Aunt for believing in me since day 1. I wouldn’t be who I am without her inspiring and encouraging me to do what I love.
